The Philippines runs on first-to-file, not first-to-use — filing late risks someone else registering your mark first. Foreign applicants can file directly, no prior local use required. The checklist: applicant, mark, class declaration

• Applicant details: ID or corporate registration proof, mailing address.
• The mark: a clear image file; word marks should specify standard or stylized font.
• Class declaration: your chosen Nice Classification categories, plus the eventual Declaration of Actual Use required after registration.

The most common mistake: filing a mark you later change

If the filed mark doesn't match what ends up on your packaging or signage, the later use declaration gets messy. Finalize the visual before filing, not after.
