Overstay & ECC Checker

Enter your actual situation and get three answers at once: how long you have overstayed, roughly what it costs, and whether a branch office can finish it. The ECC question is answered separately — that is the one most people get wrong, and the one that stops them at the check-in counter.

There are two triggers and either one is enough: a continuous stay of 6 months or more, or a visa that has expired or been downgraded. Most people only remember the first, so someone three months in the country but two months into an overstay concludes they are exempt — and gets stopped at check-in.

This tool applies the rates and rules published in the BI Citizens Charter 2026 1st Edition and gives an estimate only. The amount you actually pay is whatever appears on the order of payment at the counter, and individual cases may involve further fees and steps. It does not cover long overstays, blacklist entries or pending cases.
