Direct answer: register on the official clearance portal, not on an agency site that looks like one. The agency's institutional website and the clearance portal are two different sites, and there is a cluster of look-alike domains differing by a few characters. Three details are worth settling before you start. Use an email address you will still control in a year, because confirmations, reference numbers and status changes all go there. Keep the password somewhere retrievable, since password recovery depends on the same email and often fails after a number change. And register one account per person — helping a family member still means a separate account and a separate appearance.

The form: names, birth details, address, former names

Direct answer: most fields cause inconvenience if wrong; the name field causes the certificate itself to be unusable. What gets printed is exactly what you type, and it must match the identity document you present character for character.

Four fields cause most of the trouble for Chinese applicants. Surname and given name order — copy the passport's own boxes rather than writing left to right as in Chinese. Middle name — Filipinos almost always have one and mainland Chinese applicants generally do not, so follow the portal's handling rather than inventing one. Spacing and hyphens in two-character given names — reproduce the passport line exactly. Former names and names changed on marriage — declare them; leaving the field blank does not speed anything up and can become a discrepancy during manual checking.

Pick the branch first, the slot second

Direct answer: the booking system is national but capacity is released per branch, so choosing a time first tends to push you to a branch you cannot realistically reach.

Two things still outstanding after the confirmation page

Direct answer: a confirmation page is not a booking. Payment has to clear and the reference number has to be live. This is the most common misunderstanding in the online half, and it usually surfaces on the day itself.

So: complete payment through one of the accepted channels, keep the reference number, and return to the portal to confirm the status — see how to pay and what to do if the portal does not update.
